Master Class - 19 August 2014

'Georgia Wilkinson, Robert Barbaro and Anna-Louise Cole as the students in the spotlight. It was a revelation to me to be so close to fellow human beings with access to such rich, stirring vocals. Clearly there is a magical recipe of natural talent and rigorous training at play here, and these voices, mere human voices, have the power to stir emotions.'

'The delicious comedy that surrounds the three young opera singers she monsters – Georgia Wilkinson, Robert Barbaro, Anna Louise Cole – swells into the sublime when they sing to Callas' satisfaction (and ours) from Tosca and Macbeth.'

'The best of the lot is Georgia Wilkinson as Sophie, a bubbly coloratura soprano, and Wilkinson plays her so winningly that it is hard to take your eyes off her, even when she is simply standing side stage observing Callas.'

'Georgia Wilkinson as the timid Sophie, Robert Barbaro as the cocky Tony and Anna-Louise Cole as the forthright Sharon are each completely convincing in their roles, and are an absolute pleasure to hear. Each also achieves the challenging goal of showing faults in their singing and performance, and then correcting them under Callas’ relentless instruction; this is very satisfying to watch.'

'The glue of this performance was the very palpable chemistry between Maria Mercedes and the three young singers, Georgia Wilkinson (playing Sophie De Palma), Robert Barbaro (Tony Condolino) and Anna Louise Cole (Sharon Graham). '

'Christine was played by Georgia Wilkinson. Georgia gave a brilliant and powerful performance. She brought so much depth and emotion to her character, and the clarity and bell-like tones of her voice were nothing short of phenomenal! An outstanding performance!'

'Georgia has a wonderful stage presence and a voice to die for. Every note was hit without
apparent effort while her lyrics conveyed completely the emotion of the moment.’

'The extremely talented Georgia Wilkinson as Christine Daae’ was outstanding, all the
signature notes were sung perfectly and she was able to communicate Christine’s torn nature.’

‘Diminutive twenty-one year old Georgia Wilkinson is an amazing talent. I’d been blown
away with her Maria for Babirra as an eighteen-year-old and she has matured. Her voice was
beautiful and she was a passionate Christine.’

'I was captivated from the opening bars and the lead singers could hold their own on any
stage but for me Georgia Wilkinson will forever epitomize Christine Daae with all the
innocence of youth and a voice to move angels.’

'Georgia Wilkinson makes a beautiful and Feisty Belle and her song ‘A Change in Me’ brought
a collective sigh from the audience.’

'The two highlights of the evening were Robert Clark as the Beast and Georgia Wilkinson as
Belle. Both have excellent stage presence and are wonderful actors. To top it off, the voices
are absolutely superb; in their duet you could have heard a pin drop and the audience held
up the show momentarily with applause.’

Stand out performances for me were the leads: Georgia Wilkinson playing Maria. She has a
beautiful well-trained voice perfect for the role. Wilkinson looks just right in the part and
her growth throughout the show – from naïve new arrival to America when we first see her,
to the intense, angry women at the end – is a revelation.’

'The sexual tension between Tony, Daniel Mottau and Maria, Georgia Wilkinson, was palpable.
Georgia has a beautiful voice and easily matched Daniel. Her timing at the end, following Tony’s
death, was amazing in one so young. She had the courage to hold silences until the tension
reached breaking point.’
